The CES e-Institute is pleased to offer a series of courses to help you maximize the use of excel in your evaluation work.
Through a partnership with Ann Emery, a renowned excel and data viz trainer (aka guru), the series begins with an introductory course on using spreadsheets.
Simple Spreadsheets will teach you techniques to save you precious time and energy. The course covers beginner, intermediate, and advanced number-crunching skills from vlookup to pivot tables. The course also includes basic data visualization skills, like designing new graphs and exporting them into other programs like Word or PowerPoint. You’ll be on your way from spreadsheet stress to superstardom in no time.
“This course is perfect for anyone who regularly thinks, “There has to be a better way to do this…” Never again will I spend an hour searching YouTube videos for the right formula! Ann presents everything you need to efficiently clean and analyze data, while making it feel cool to be a data nerd with her engaging style. I highly recommend!”
“This course is perfect for people who are novice users as well as more experienced Excel users. I have been using Excel for many years, but learned many tips and tricks to help expedite my work and reduce errors. If you have been cutting and pasting sheets together like I have, then you will love the material Ann offers in her course. I also love the fact that I can go back and look at the videos right when I need to figure something out.”
The course includes 13 hours of video content focusing on using data in applied research and evaluation settings, which is the equivalent of taking a two- or three-day workshop. Lessons are intentionally short–just a few minutes long–so you can learn while you eat lunch. You’ll transform into a spreadsheet superstar but the transformation will happen one step at a time so it doesn’t feel overwhelming, especially if you’ve got a busy schedule.
The course includes:
- 150 lessons delivered through 13 hours of video
- Downloadable spreadsheets, templates, & handouts
- Practical how-tos in Excel
- Examples from a variety of industries (public health, government, education, grantmaking, international development, hospitals, universities, and more)
- Yearlong access to course materials.
